Thread: Looking at new pistons 91-99?

As I'm looking for new (stock compression) pistons for my 93 de, I'm seeing
a wide variety of different date ranges for compatibility!?
I'm seeing compatabilities like: 91-99, 94-99, 95-99. Anybody know what the correct sr20de range really is?

All SR pistons with an 86mm bore will fit, dude....really?

Get SR16VE pistons.

I think he's boosting the motor no? 91-99 will all be the same compression but there are grades to fit into slightly larger stock bore to account for wear iirc.

Well if your boosting get DET pistons.

There are grades stamped into the deck of the block. You're supposed to match the piston grade with the block to maintain proper tolerances. I know the rings and ring lands were revised for the RR motors in 2000, but aside from that, I think they were unchanged from 91-99.

I realize 86mm is 86mm, but I also know crank dimensions/strokes can change, making pin placements change, or even wrist pin dimensions.
Yes, I intend to turbo it at the stock compression ratio @ .020 over on the bore, w/swaincoatings (gold coat + pc9) on the tops and sides. Thanks for the info guys

Apparentely, at some point, the Japanese decided to get away from the superior bearing composition that say, a clevite bearing provides, to a more "green" or a more "environment friendly" bearing with more aluminum and no lead!? That's probably as big a problem as the small oil capacity we've got, you guy's ever heard that?
