Thread: Sr20De(rr) with SR16 piston

I just want to know if somebody run sr16ve pistons in their sr20de.

I'm about to start this project and want to pick-up info and/or feeling,dyno sheet everything !

Yeah its been done before. Look up Robchaos. He built up a highport engine with the SR16 pistons. If I remember correctly he was in the 180's whp. I can't remember what other mods he had to go along with the pistons.

Mike Kojima also has some articles on MotoIq for a motor he was putting together that included sr16 pistons.

Can I ask why not just go with an SR20ve? You'll get the same whp from a Sr20ve without having to build it up, like you would with a SR20DE. With current SR20ve Prices I don't see how a built up Sr20de will be cheaper. Cams, pistons, machine work, header, intake, ecu, it starts getting expensive real quick.

Also you will be limited on cam options with the RR head.

it will cost less for me i have already the cams and the pistons cost me 80.usd

but I really don't want the hassle of cutting the harness and everything else i want my car reliable like nissan woul have did it

175-180 WHP is what you will make.

Compression for the RR will be about 12.3 to 1 because the RR has a slightly smaller cumbustion chamber than the standard DE.

It will be a great motor.



As far as the VE goes there will be very little cutting and there will be no reliability issues. The JDM-Euro RR motor and VE motor run almost everything the same. All you would have to do is put in a MSD RMP activated switch and a aftermarket ECU.

That would be such an awesome combo... no shitty ring lands to worry about and it would scream. Soooo cheap, never realized this combo... I don't know why.

i have them no problem at all, the car has more torque, and consume less because it runs great with small amount of throttle, i had some detonations before but i think i fix them with proper timing

but i have a RR with a little bit smaller combustion chamber. have you dyno it ?
