I dont know much about "tuning" but I know he pretty much does this for a living. I might have worded it wrong, but I know he has a chip burner, and alot of software. I'll see if he can do anything with it. Also, wont the stock ECU "learn" the new cams eventually?

Well I'm selling the black car (or scrapping it) and the motor is coming out eventually. The harness in the black car was so jacked up from the previous owner, and the body on it is a 2/10 otherwise I would keep it

I smell fail. There is no generic tuning stuff that works on the stock ecu. But if you searched or read you would know that... since we have whole sections dedicated to that. So your buddy that does it for a living... unless he does sr20 ecu's specifically won't know jack to do.

If you have a pep talk with your ecu it will know that you changed the cams and be ready to go. Use your 2 hrs a day to read and not mess with the cars till you understand what you want to do. You are talking about downgrading one car to upgrade another... seems silly to me.

No offense, but this means absolutely nothing to quite a few members here. Pity party, table for one? Many of us have lots of "REAL LIFE" events that occur on a daily basis, but it's no excuse for doing a search with questions such as yours that have been asked about 1000 times. Searching takes all of 10 seconds. Reading the threads takes as long as you have time for. If you can reply here, then surely you can READ A THREAD RESULT.

I just wanted to add a little pep to the DD... and besides I dont know if the USDM head is any different than the Avenier (like you said)

There is no difference between an Avenir and DE highport head. They are damn near identical, except that the DET head has sodium filled valves that are slightly larger. This has nothing to do with your cam. Direct swap.

I gotta do the steel brake lines Saturday, so I might as well do the cams the same day. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Thanks for the info!

What ECU are you running? A JWT, Calum, or Nistune?

And as for the topic, I have seen stock heads take S5 cams and do redlines everyday, so no prob with S4.

Please don't bother posting replies unless you care to read into the OP a bit more. Clearly it states that he would have a daughterboard installed, being that he's running 370's with an N60 MAF which is in his signature.

This thread is starting to get out of hand. People need to read into things a bit more before posting senseless replies.

True... But that is in the other car.

Shoeless OP and shoeless replies.

Just swap the damn cams, sell your avenier setup by parting it out, and have fun daily driving your nuts off while maintaining super reliability and collecting some money from the part out of your turbo setup. You will make more money parting it out versus getting rid of it in one sale.

And what kind of ECU are you, do you, do you wish to run?

not trying to be a dick but why would their need to be any head modifications and if jwt said there were no mods needed, why are you questioning it?

I was curious USDM SR v "JDM" SR. I know how to tear them apart and put them back together but I dont know the differences. Call me dumb, whatever. Also, I was questioning it because I hear from JWT that no modifications needed, but then I hear from other people that say you need to change valves/springs/etc. I wanted an opinion, but next time I post anything I'll use the search button and scroll through 400 pages of JWT stuff
