That makes sense. Thanks for the info.

cavitation
this issue does not start to compromise or effect cooling efficiency until engine speeds of 6k and beyond

exactly so its only going to really matter if you are reving higher than 6k or above, otherwise you really wont see the bad effects, doesnt hurt ot have the aftermarket pulley tho

well idk man aside for it being a cooler day out there isnt another reason.

you know he was getting on the car to test out his shiny new toys so maybe it did stay a few degrees cooler right after he shifted at 7 grand a few times.

as far as getting the pully off i used one of those 3 arm claws with the big screw in the middle. just make sure to put a spacer of some sort between the tip of the "bolt" and the threads of the crank so nothing is damaged.

also one of the times that i used that device the pully was on there so good i chipped the edge right off so be careful.

Question: How did you get the spacer off the crank? I've tried twice to install a pulley and could not get the spacer past the notch/snout on the end of the crank. Was the car warm or cold? Needle nose/magnets etc would not do it for us.

Also to be clear; I have the Gspec water pump pulley and its the timing cover you grind not the block.

I think i just pulled it out, it took a little messing around to get it off. It should just pull out, get a little WD-40 or other lube in there and work it out.
It is the oil pump cover that had to be ground down a little.

I thought that the redesigned fins on the newer water pumps had improved efficiency for high rpm. I thought only the older classics had that problem. meh.

sometimes the spacers can be a little difficult. it seems the snout on the end of the crank gets slightly smooshed when the crank pulled is torqued down. be persistant.

as far as getting the pulley off, you will find it easiest to use a 3 jaw puller. Go to autozone.
