Thread: Quest for quiet exhaust...What cha think of Megan cat back?

any of you guys use the Megan cat back system? How long and the quality?
I have my little girl sitting in the back, don't want to deaf her ears with these grapefruit shooter.


Any recommendations will be great

Just like any other eBay brand exhausts. OEM muffler is the only way to get it really quiet. Semi quiet would involve some higher end aftermarket exhausts.

how is the megan? saw a full set for 120 or something.

Skip to 2:12seconds. Thats the megan. Its not quiet lol. Sounds pretty good. But quiet it is not.

Just get custom piping with a greddy sp canister or the vibrant oval canister. Both are very quiet.

Biggest resonator you can buy + eBay muffler with removeable silencer + as much Dynamat or equivalent you can stuff in your trunk.

What kind of car are you putting this cat-back on? If it is a B14 don't even waste your cash bro. I have owned that version. The b14 meagan cat-back is designed like garbage.They say it's 2.5 inch pipe diameter but near the exhaust it necks down to about 1-3/4''-2'' . I never seen something designed so horrible. On the other hand I have seen the B13 version installed and looks like that is pretty decent quality. Now for sound quality they are loud as FU*K. They do come with a silencer that necks down to 1'' which just kills all horsepower gains. Honestly I think your better off keeping your factor exhaust if your going to drive with the silencer in.

I put a Megan mid-pipe on my Civic and fitment was poopoo.

if u want quite go with a Apexi World sport 2 they are great!

Also, on the turbo version the tip is ricer-enlarged to 4 inches. I gotta paint this thing flat black now. I bought the WS2 *because* of the advice that it's so quiet here on the boards, but receiving the muffler and seeing how big it is, plus vids on youtube..idk, starting to think that may be one of the great myths of the SR20 boards.

We'll see how it sounds after I get it installed. Good thing I have 2 resonators.
