170whp w/o internals or cams, i don't think so. Everyone has been in that situation before. Maybe 170 with cams n tuning.

For your time attack racing I reckon 20v cams will be your best bet. Supposedly they have the best low down and mid range power of all the ve cams.

Else if your budget allows, the 20v/N1 hybrid cams.

If you do the straight up 20v cams or even 16ve cams, mill the head 0.5mm FTW!

As the car sits, I'm only a whole 2 seconds off of the FWD record at my local track. I figure with just the VE swap, a set of sways and some r-comp tires I should be right there. Then we'll work on additional mods to shatter the record and make it hard for people to break it.

eh, I know it's a long shot, but I'm gonna try. If it doesn't make it, I'm sure s4's will do the job.

With a VE and a tight suspension, you'll be a force to be reckoned with.

ur not going to make 150whp with out cams. let alone 170 with the stock jammies.

I have actually seen two DE motors make over 150 whp with stock cams. With a tune and full bolt-ons it can be done.

I was making over 150 too on stock cams. But if I was to do it again, I would of went ve too.
