SR20de (na) Pow'ed B13 doing top speed of 256kmh (160mph)?
Can a SR 20de in a B13 Sunny chassis, full interior street car do 160mph on highway withe the mods below? The longest stretch of raod on our higway is about 4-5 miles (more or less straight)

Car: Nissan Sunny b13

Mods: sr20de n/a, programmed ecu (owner claims), 2.5" exhaust, extractor. No internal mods like cams etc. There could be a few more bolt ons but....

Now this guy claims he hits top speed of 256kmh (160mph) on the toll using GPS.

Is this possible?

Mind you I told him point blank that I think his car will run out of breath before he reaches there. I dont know his gear box or ratios, but I dont think he has the power to attain that speed.

My sr20ve, 16ve cams, header, 3" exhaust, Calum basic does 242kmh (150mph) on the same road in a N15 Pulsar - 2400lbs

Your comments?

Peace

I know a guy on here did 166 in a turbo beast and started to run out of gearing with a p11 trans just to give you an idea. Im sure its possible, anything is now of days.

That guy is full of sh*t.

He flat-out does not have the power to hit 160 mph. I don't know about the gearing.

The top speed as recorded waaaaaaay back in the early '90s by all the car magazines was 130-132 mph or so in a Classic. IIRC, a few more miles per hour for the NX2000 (better aerodynamics than the "two box design" Classic).

Further, when you are going for ultimate top speed it is an exponential number of horsepower you need to keep going faster. It is not "122 whp equals 130 mph, so 244 whp equals 260 mph." You have to have a TON more horsepower to do 160 mph in a Classic than doing 130 mph (122 whp stock), or 150 mph (with your 200'ish whp). Notice you added approximately 80 whp, and only gained 20 mph top speed. I guarantee that next 10 mph (to hit 160 mph) would take more than 80 additional horsepower.

There is actually a formula (for Brainiacs) to figure the exact numbers.

My *educated guess* is that dude would have to have at least 325+ whp to hit 160. IF his gearing allowed him to even hit that speed.

And you guys are not in the U.S.A., so I don't know what your speed limits happen to be. However, I would bet that you are engaged in a seriously illegal and dangerous as hell quest to find your top-speed on a public highway/freeway.

If you were located in the U.S.A. I would have reported this thread for street racing. Whether in a single vehicle or not, you are in effect "racing" doing a top speed run on public roads.

At those speeds, any problem with the vehicle or the road and you are a dead man.
