Cam gear settings.
Well, as some of you have read, I've scheduled my dyno time for feb 2nd.

I am just wondering if anyone out there with a build similar to mine (sr16ve pistons with BC stg 3 cams) has had any luck with different cam timing settings.

I figure that if I can get my cam gears set somewhere in the right ballpark to begin with, I can cut out a dyno run or two and save some money and work.

I would say start at +2 -2 and go from there.

even tough he said that's where he would start with the JWT C3 I think it would be a good start for the BC S3

This is a DE and not a VE. This setting +5 -5 has been around alot longer than Mike K posted it for his VE. This setting should not be done on a DE motor.

I would start with +2, -2
On a DE I used to have with a similar setup my timing was +6, +2 But on that engine the head was resurfaced ans the block deck was resurfaced too.. And that retards cam timing...

i take it you arent going to have much time to dial in and then see the gains? its like set it and if its not right 1 more chance to get it right?

The place that used to be EIP. I don't feel like driving an hour to a dyno.

That seems to be the popular consensus. I will start at +2 intake -2 exhaust.

It is not that I am not going to have much time, Its just that I would like to spend as little time and money on the dyno as possible.
