The sad part is that Honda did that very thing with the S2000.
When going aftermarket exhaust, there's two crowds. Those that keep the dual tail pipes, and those who know what they're doing.

IF you have two outlets coming out of one muffler on one side of the car on a 4cyl motor then it looks good and is functional.

NOW, IF you have your exhaust come back as a single pipe and split in to two separate pipes, go to two independent mufflers on opposite sides of the car i think it looks dumb and serves no functionality.

Say what you want about what i post but at least understand what i am saying before freaking out.

funny story........ the pictures squirlz posted of the exhaust didnt show up on my comp until just now , once again i apologize

Technically, all resonators, glasspacks, etc. are "mufflers" but they get different names based on what they are made of, how they are made, or how far down they are placed in the exhaust.

That's a "muffler" because it's at the back. It might be a "resonator" to someone else if it was placed in the center of an exhaust.

BTW those two exhausts are titanium I believe.

Those 2 on the s2k's are nice. One of the guys i auto x with has one like the black s2k, that exhaust sounds pretty damn good, its loud but with how the s2k's rev pretty much anything is going to be loud at 9k. I think his is an espilir (sp).

The only way to have 2 mufflers is if you go true dual, which on a 4cyl is pointless, unless one is a wastegate dump like benfenner said.

Ok, I have a few comments or observations about this post. Number 1) it made me a little dumber, 2) I mean its p to prsonal taste as to whether you want a single 4" tip, dual 2" tips, or even and I will admit that it is complete RICE to add dual mufflers on your 4cyl UNLESS you are using one for a wastegate dump tube if you want to even consider that.

Now as for my favorite honda the f22 powered s2k it really should have the single titanium tip exhaust system, which it would probably gain alot of hp, now this is just a guess.

But there are tons of cars with dual exhaust exits including the m3 which uses a single muffler and quad tips! It's done for aesthetics only and not for power obviously, unless we are talking true dual exhaust from the headers back (notice I said headers, not header)

I will say I personally prefer and own only single 4" tips on my cars......and will always!

Damn I have to go to sleeeeep zzzzzzzz

... I can't believe I read through this entire thread and I truely believe that I have lost several brain cells in doing so. That said...

I am reminded, and so shall share with you all, that there are plenty of 4-cylinder cars which came with "ricey", as squirls so eloquently put it, dual exhaust from the factory;

Honda S2000
Toyota MR-2 (turbo and non turbo)
Dodge SRT-4
just to name a few.

To go around posting that "dual exhaust" is downright "ricey, stupid, and pointless" is a gross display of ignorance on several peoples parts. People so quickly forget such simple things like factory dual exhaust four bangers.

I'd never put dual exhaust on either of my cars, not even for a wastegate dump on my turbo car, but I'll admit I thought about making a custom set of secondaries and running dual all the way out the back from the header just the Germans do on the BMW's and Benz's do. That would be a "true" dual exhaust. But I went boost instead lol. And I'll stick with an OEM looking 2.5-3" tip hanging out the back. Stealth=clean clean=sex!

Btw, the muffler on that silver s2k is expensive as shyte!
