I agree with this statement completely. It depends on your wallet, skill level, intended use for the car, what you are willing to live with (idle, loss of low end power, etc.) amongst other factors such as time, stock bore & stroke? Are you willing to sleeve the block, do you have money to do head work? Can you at least do the install yourself or with a friend or two? There are plenty of threads with some decent information and recipes for N/A power. Do a search for sr16 pistons to start with unless you plan to overbore. You have a lot of work ahead of you just to even get answers from anyone that will do you any good.

I thought about it, too much. I could get a sr20vet for about 4500, then I would need axles, trans, computer, and probably much much more.

OP: Honestly, we need some more info, and you probably should get a better idea of what you really want out of this car / engine. Different people go with different builds for different reasons, and it's all geared toward the individuals wants and tastes. Some guys prefer high-comp, some turbo, some nitrous. I will say, Eagle makes good all-around rods, but depending your goals, current budget, and what you have now, there might be better options or better rod/piston combinations to look at.

When embarking on something like this, it takes a decent amount of time just sitting down, looking around, and building a list with ideas of what you want done, and checking the approx. cost to do it. I've had my 2nd motor on a stand for months and months, I've torn it apart but still don't know how I want it back together. Thats why it's my "project". I don't expect it to ever be finished, honestly, but oddly enough thats part of what makes me love working on it. Right now, for me though, it's only been on paper for the last 4months or so, I haven't even gone into the realm of purchasing, much less serious wrenching.

Take your time, you'll be glad you did. Worst thing you can do is rush into it and then find it's not what you were looking for, or get suprised by something you didn't think of. We're always here to help, but honestly, you need a bit better of an idea of what you want before we can be really useful.

I want to make between 250-300 hp, that way I won't come close to blowing a trans. I have my NX2000, we are going to strip the interior, paint the inside. Put a dash in it and of course the necessaries (gauges, driver and passenger seats). My budget isn't very limited, probably around 5 or 6 grand.

I will be having a shop build it because they will have to guarantee a running motor. I don't want to f it up. But my budget will need to include many more things, like an ecu either from jim wolf tech, or send mine into calum sult. Probably alot more things that I will run into, like missing parts off of my car, due to my brother using things his sentra needed. so.....

I want the high compression pistons. I basically want to build the block.

or you could get a de and turbo it for half the price and still have the power. You didnt think about it to much because you can get a ve slap a t28 on it and be happy. you really didnt search and its obvious with these comments.

Does anyone just know what a good setup is for all motor? I need to have my car with a running motor in it by the end of september. I'm not too worried about money, 6000 grand it my limit.

You said you want an all motor build but you say you could get a VET? And you want 250-300hp ALL MOTOR?! And you don't think, if by somehow glorious miracle those numbers are achieved, that you won't be pushing your tranny to the limit?

If you want to an all motor setup, without going VE, check out Robchaos's build.

our trans only hold 250 whp at the most...any thing above that is pushing it and asking for failure...also to build an all motor sr20 to make anything above 200whp your talking c3 cams heads decked to the point where the valves AAAAlmost touch the pistons (which btw our engines do not like as it offsets cam timing ) maybe nitrous and an act of god...an SR20VE will run you 800-1200 for the engine imported from japan depending on wher eyou get it from, you do not need a VET , and while running a few nice mods on a VE youll notice it gets the car runnning quite well

all the while i wish you the best of luck because ive been down this road, and once i laid it all out on paper...it never was worth it to get past that
