Thread: ARP rod bolts - opinions

So I'm busy poking around the bottom end of my motor and I'm wondering it going with ARP rod bolts would be worth it? Planning to play with cam timing and hopefully make power to about 9krpm.

Can't seem to find much or any info about the subject in particular on the forum.

I also see ARP has two kinds of fastners. The bolts with the nuts, and the studs. Since it's for stock 20VE rods, I'm asuming I can only use the studs right? part # 202 6005?

Use ARP rod bolts and nuts. Have them resized for clearance, then balance the rotating assy.

Forgot to mention I'm trying not to pull out the rods. Would preferably like to just remove the stockers and replace with ARP ones without taking out the rods and pistons etc.

Is it even worth it if I don't use the bolt and nuts type?

I would not attempt that. By changing the rod bolts you are changing the clamping force on the bearing. The rod bolt need to be to be pressed in and out. The entire assy. needs to be balanced because of the weight diff. ARP bolts are alot lighter. Imagine the difference in weight @ 8500rpm.
