Thread: Ga16de>VTC

It says the ga16de in the b14 comes equipped with Vtc. Which of course is some form of timing controll. If this is true, Is the activation point able to be changed with some sort of vtec controller?

vtc is not vvl

vtc is variable cam timming. I dont know much about the ga16de but on the s15 engine its only on the intake side as its the intake of sr's that responds the most to cam timming changes. it will advance and retard 10deg at any point in the rpm

vvl is a whole different ball game

All USDM & JDM GA16DE has VTC(Variable Cam Timing). Europe's ga16de didnt have vtc and some countries had both. It adjusts the intake cam timing continuously so you can't really feel it, but at 6500rpm you can feel when the VTC retards the intake cam, reducing power.

I'm pritty sure a vtec controller like the apexi safc/afc-neo or bc -con can control the vtc. its just gonna switch to your preference.

I wondered how that process worked on the s15's because the cam profile did not look like a vvl cam, via the bc2 dropping right in or and fwd cam.

Hmm... looks like time to experiment..... Why would they have it retard at a higher rpm? That's like countering an natural process. Maybe that engine is more capable of producing more power than 115hp in stock trim.

I wonder what the K24 guys use to tune their vtc.
