my only regret was having NOT gone with the C3's instead. but, when a oem valve spring broke and sent parts crashing together i knew there was a VE in my future. just think, if the de hadn't suffered catastrophic damage i'd still be stuck @ ~170whp
one more thing. BIG cams make your aftermarket exhaust much LOUDER. on a DE you're "always loud". on the VE, you're only loud when you want to be
i still say...for the $$ go VE, and have fun doing it. only look back when you wanna reflect on the "old days".

as far as torque loss goes.....bullsheiit! check around for Teal97 and "my dyno sheets". they should still be there. if not, i can post them up here.
still though the VE IS more fun, easier to drive and civilized doing it.
have fun doing which ever way you choose

Please listen to this man.

I was building an SR with a p/p head, C cams, SR16 pistons, Eagle rods, etc., etc., and gave up the project, sold it all, and went VE. Cost me less money in the long run and you'll be hard pressed to make the 195 hp I'm making now.

Plus it's daily driveable and doesn't get loud unless you're on the tall skinny.
