Stroker is doing my head in!!
OK

SR16VE engine

91mm crank - stock sr20de rods.

What would happen if i put SR20VE pistons in there? Compression wise? I know the stroke is now 2.5mm longer - but the SR20VE piston stock gives 10.3CR.

I am theorising if i can use a thick cometic head gasket and SR20VE pistons....

Any thoughts or ideas? I would do the maths but i cant find the info necessary to do so.

The compression would be about 11 to 1 if you made adjustments to the piston pin do iy stays fluch with the block.

The storke is 5mm longer, but with no changes to the piston pin the piston would stick out the top of the block 2.5mm and be pulled down on the bottom of the srtoke 2.5mm for a total of 5mm movement.

No one is making a gasket that is 3.7mm thick to make up the diffrence.

You need to buy pistons that have the correct pin height.

My engine builder is prepared to go 1mm on the SR20VE piston worth of machining - but he wants one to meaure and test first.

Cometic might be able to do a 2.3mm gasket - as i wouldnt mind running 12:1 CR.

Ive never seen a 20ve piston up close, is there any room to machine it down at all? We can easily coat it for better heat resistance.

complete waste of time.

So your going to spend $100 for coating the pistons
$120 plus for head gasket.
$50-$80 to shave pistons

When you can get a properly made forged piston for $550.

$550?!!!

CP here want $1200 AUD to my door.

Thats the reason i was looking at the 20ve piston route.

88mm pistons will be fine on stock sleeves too!

Have you got any reccomendations to grab the pistons through?

whats wrong with just getting the rods for the 91mm crank?

OK, well it looks like my path is to go pistons.

Who in the states can make them at a reasonable price - every quote i get here is off the scale in stupidity wise!!

Any help would be appreciated.
