Thread: Video: Bouncing idle

Check it out. up until 50 seconds you can see the difference when I shift to drive...then after that I get bored and start pushing the o/d button - ha ha - but seriously have a look and let me know if you've ever seen something like this and a way to fix it, I'm freaking out of ideas.

oh and btw, it's a 01' sentra SE. I cleaned the maf, tested the tps sensor, nothing. I will say one thing though, there's a buzzing that comes from the transmission area that has to do with the throttle body opening and closing. that buzzing even at completly closed throttle and car off, still buzzes. It's not the iacv (auto is mounted to the tb) - I know that sound and it's elsewhere in the engine. Just thought I'd mention that if it helps somehow

oh and I'm also getting a p0505 error code 'idle air system malfunction' which could basically mean anything

I dont know why yours is doing that.

However, my 95 SE-R does that only when I turn the A/C on and it is stressing. I think for mine its the belt for the A/C compressor.

Mine does not rev that high but it bounces from 750-950 or 1000.

You can try and clean it out or buy a new one. Sometimes on the RR cars that code ended up being a bad ECU.

let's hope not. I'll be trying for vaccum leaks to see if that's the case first, then off to the stealership BLAUGH

Did you reroute any lines going to the intake or intake manifold?

I'm sticking with my IACV here. The code he has is for the IACV. Which is an Idle air control valve. So if you have a code for and idle air control valve and your IDLE is screwed up then it would make sense as to what the problem is. Plus my brothers 3000gt was doing the exact same thing as your car in the vid and he swapped in a new IACV and it fixed it. Only problem for you is that your idle needs to be set by the dealer I believe.

Then again nothing is as easy as it seems ever. At least with my car. Watch this end up being a dirty ground .

close - wound up being 2 fried wires between the iacv and the ecu- a simple continuity test proved it. patched, and she now runs like a champ!
