Wrap it up?
Headers and downpipe for NA applications.

What are the pros and cons of wrapping with heat wrap?

I MAY put on a header on my car (the stock heat shield wont work with it) but dont want the heat in the engine bay so I was planning to wrap it.

Pros: Reduce heat

Cons: Rotten the pipes

Paint the header first then wrap it. This will help slow the process down. If you are using a SSAC header your not out that much if it does rot. I personally will be wrapping my header when i get a chance. I have the wrap and paint, just need to do it.

You've got the basic pros and cons down. Another pro is slight power increase (theory). I too would paint with high temp VHT paint and wrap. That's what I did with my turbo downpipe.

you've got the means to get it coated.. then do it... wrap works great but i wouldn't do it on a rare / expensive header... it does affect and shorten it's life span....

There was just a thread that compared Ceramic coating vrs Wrap not that long ago. You could dig that up if you are even debating getting it coated. But basically it came down to coating doenst come close to isolating heat as wrap does for obvious reasons. But coating does look better.
If you wanted to really be cool and not worry about an expensive header you could do both.

An expensive header is going to be stainless, and can go with just a wrap. =]

I am going to getting a header soon. 95-99 96 NISSAN SENTRA SER 2.0L 200SX STAINLESS HEADER:eBay Motors (item 110365500039 end time Apr-21-09 21:05:10 PDT)

So you guys are saying High temp coat this and then i can wrap the header?

Duplicolor makes a high temp paint for headers then wrap for the most protection.
