Why? You should only need to have egr to pass a visual. That stuff has nothing to do with EGR at all. Its a fresh air circulation valve and all it does is puts fresh air into the exhaust system and add oxegen into the system.

I dont know of anywhere that would require you to have that in place to pass a visual.

Because the hose that went to it was disconnected and just laying there.
They told him to either search the jy or 't' it off into another line, but he seems hell bent on getting a complete AIV... so... idk

or just remove the hose so its not there and put a plug in the exhaust system where the tube goes into it and cap the airbox connection for that hose. Leave the catch can and stuff in place. Again it shouldnt be needed to pass a visual. EGR stuff, yes. Fresh air valve, no.

No they told me I need a AIV as its in the vacuum diagram and its missing therefore i FAILED. I can tee it off ,cut it off, shove it wherever I want but since I don't have the line running to the AIV its auto fail. I'm really pissed but like the guy said its Nevada state law. I went to the JY and there is nothing in my area, they where all riped off already. I talked to 3 different Smog techs and without the AIV visual will fail. I even asked what If I rip the diagram off the hood, they said so what we have it in the computer. I got a lead on one anyway so hopefully I can get this all worked out by the end of the week.

I'd keep looking for another smog place this is Nevada not California. Here in Reno they haven't even popped my hood to do a visual.

Man I went to 3 different places and was turned down. I may drive up there for a smog lol. My friend at work has someone who does them and turns his head at things like this for an extra $100. I refuse to do things shady like that and would rather keep it legal.
