highport vs. lowport
I'm left without a lot of options. I've been trying to locate an inexpensive highport to replace the one that recently blew up in my '93 G20. I'll be picking up a lowport tomorrow for a reasonable price but I'm slightly worried that I may run into problems besides just installing it. Isn't the rev limit higher in the highports vs. the lowports? I'm not one to drive around tached out but it's been known to happen here and there. I REALLY don't want to end up having to buy yet another motor in a few months because this one won't hold up to the tolerances of the highport design.

p.s.- I still cannot find ANY info on someone installing a lowport motor in a factory highport car. Anyone? Anything??? Are there differences in the harness or with any sensors?? How about the distributor, does that need to be swapped over?

its not the motor that doesnt rev. its the ecu that wont let the motor rev in a B14

other wise its like any sr

You might end up with a RR (very likely if you buy from an engine importer). If so, you do need to keep it under 7k. You'll also have to do some more modifications if it's one of those motors.

you swap all your sensors from your old motor to the new one...

a high port to low port swap is pretty easy, much easier than a low port to high port. When you do the swap, remove the intake cam from the high port and install it in the low port motor.

You will definitely have some issues with throttle cable and probably cruise control. They will be too short...

its been proven the Lowport head flows better than the highport.
