Nissan OEM filters subbed out to FRAM, with all the same issues as those pieces of ****. Cut one open if you doubt it.
Cardboard end caps (which sometimes separate in FRAM-built filters), crappy element, these are not "Nissan" any more, so if you're flying your OEM loyalty flag, don't bother - buy Purolater Pure One, Mobil, K&N, NAPA Gold(WIX), not the Nissan OEM unless you want to pay 2X for a FRAM filter that may fall apart and definitely does not work as well keeping your oil free of particulates...note these are mostly VQ35 spec oil filters but the Nissan OEM is no different internally for SR20's:

BobIsTheOilGuy for some better info. Get Used Oil Analysis done at Blackstone or other labs, find out what's really working or not for your oil choice. While I've switched from Mobil One to Rotella Syn for my G Coupe (
if you're really curious why, check here), I'd still use it in my SR20, and if you can score the Castrol Syn with the German Spec, that's good, too. Amsoil, also good.
