I cant find anything on the net about the 53J5L but as i see it it looks very similar to another JDM a friend of mine has.On his head cover there isnt a black channel in the plugs if tha helps.
Those are pics from his motor hope they help no head code though as he hadnt taken a foto from that.

I see they are flat pistons

The red injectors on the uk one are the sidefeed jdm ones as it originally had topfeed bosch ones (if i recall correctly).

^My UK came with gray injectors that don't work with my engine harness. I'm gonna have to change them out. The UK rail is the same as the USDM, but the actual injector plugin part is different.

^Did the engine come with a AUTO tranny? My UK did.

Ok, i read a post from andreas miko, that he said most JDM engines that i have seen with tubular exhaust are high compression, 50% wiht regular exhaust are 9:5 and 10:1. http://www.sr20-forum.com/general-sr20/11407-how-indentify-10-1-vs-9-5-sr20-motor-oil-drain-tube.html

that is possible, check the piston with a flash light? and see if a flat piston.?

^That's my thread. I think all the UK's are 10.1 and the JDM's it is probably about 50/50. NISSAN does crazy stuff. They probably just used these pistons when they ran out of the 9.5 in a rotating cycle. Their A/C units share the same cycle. It's random.

The red ukdm one it is for sure 10:1 with flat pistons as we changed its head gasket for precaution.

^I still don't know if the JDM that is currently in my daily is a 9.5 or 10.1 yet. It pulls hard though. Real hard with BC2's.

Dont know if the UK was with an auto or not cause i only took the motor from the shop and was no tranny attached.
As it was mentioned he asked about my friends head and yes it has those ribs.
In my motors the silver head doesnt have ribs and for the red uk one i dont know cause never paid attention to that as it was a quick job (5 hours job actually from finding to replacing the jdm one) and we just wanted to finish it quickly to have the car running as i use it to go to my work.
