DVE vs VE
Just trying to find out, from any ones experiences with both. Does a SR20DE with a SR20VE head make more torque than a SR20VE?

SR20ve/de vs SR20ve?

There would be no reason that it would. The SR20VE would have slightly higher compression ratio. Compression ratio = torque. Every other dimension is common between the engines. The SR20VE should have more torque than a SR20DE/VE hybrid.

A de block with a ve head has higher compression than a stock ve. Just FYI

yeah a de with ve head comes out to about 10.7:1 i believe or somewhere in that figure. The pistons in the de do not have the valve reliefs and they are not as dished as the ve pistons.

Matter fact i just got done doing the de block with ve head with frankling stage 3's (identical to the n1 cams) and we have had no problems and it runs really strong. This is with a 2.5" SSAC header, 3" catless exhaust, short ram 3" intake with jwt pop charger, cams degreed to +2.5,-2.5 and again no problems, the head has bc dual valve springs and retainers. The motor has seen 9k a couple times and seems to pull pretty good all the way to it in 1st and 2nd gear, 3rd gear you can feel power start to fall after 8200 or so so he shifts at that. Again no problem with valve clearance so far but i dont know if we would be able to go +5,-5 with no issues. Again since the de pistons dont have valve reliefs its hard to tell without really doing some type of testing on when the pistons will contact the valves.

I think it would still be good to go to that but its hard to say. Some others can chime in on what they have their settings at on the cams

Biased? You're cute. What, do you think that misinformation should be let go and not corrected? That's what's wrong with a ton of posts on this forum, people post stuff that they know nothing about and it spreads because people read it and then they relay the same wrong info in another thread, and so on....

And Rob E, I wasn't singling you out on the posting things you know nothing about to be an ass, I was just correcting your information.

You are running de pistons with N1 cams? I have seen the valves hitting the pistons with de pistons and 16ve cams, not going over 8k. Are you positive that there are no clearance issues? I just can't believe that they aren't

^How do the DE pistons compare to the RR pistons on a VE head? I think I saw forum member jer_760 say something to Martin_g34 about clearance running N1's with the RR pistons. You said that the Franklin S3's are the same as the N1's. Do you have any pics of the Franklins? I've never seen a set.

The rr pistons have the same size dish as the regular de pistons, so the same goes for them.

just pics during assembly onto the 2.2L block we had but as most of you know the sleeves were not installed correctly by the machine shop here and slid down the block popping the headgasket.

neways yeah im not for certain they are truely the franklin stage 3's as we bought them from a member that is well respected on here, purchased with the head and a bunch of other stuff. We got the head, cam gears and franklin stage 3's which were dynod right next to the n1's and made exactly the same power.

I have not measured the cams yet but i trust the guy and the car pulls better past 7k than my ve did with the stock 20ve cams. So i know the powerband is different. Not just because the .7 higher compression but because the cam profile, plus just judging by looking at them they definetly seem to be higher lift than my 20ve cams were. Again this is just looking at them.

Again no clearance issues at all even with them degreed +2.5 intake and -2.5 exhaust. I dont know what to tell you guys again so far no contact with the valves even revving to 9k. The motor definetly runs strong as hell also. We will be dynoing here maybe next week so keep an eye out.
