Thread: has anyone used ACL Race bearings??

im trying to find ppl's liking of these before i buy them. i know they're a good buy but are they up to specs? how is the durability. im doing a high compression DE (11:1) with nitrous. i want to make sure they are worth it before i buy. anyone with any input on these would be greatly appreciated.

I sell them to a lot of the reconditioners in NZ. Most seem to like them and some insist on them.

ACL is the **** to use here in australia - all of our top motorpsort teams use their stuff. Its good ****

to size the bearings CORRECTLY you need a micrometer set and a dial bore gauge. you will need to measure the crank journals and then install the bearings into the block and check your oil clearances. The bearings come in STD .0000"+.0005" and +.001" i believe. Most people are too lazy to spec them correctly and this can lead to premature failure.

Steel Babit bearings are better for longevity and for higher temps. AL bearings are great for OEM and simple builds. They will absorb metal fragments if gotten into the oil system. They also allow you to use the grade system assuming the crankshaft, block, and rods are all ok.

Steel Babit bearings have their advantages if you know them and how to put them to work for you.

the only thing that conserned me was the size all around compared to the oem one (as in measurement and fitting) . ima check out the steel babit to compare, but i know of ACL has held it down at least in the honda's so i was just wondering.

If they are sized properly, then they will be better than OEM bearings. Most people dont size them correctly though.

you're talkin about me "sizing it" before i install them right?? i know they are better, shiet, i hope an aftermarket race bearing is better than an OEM bearing. lol
