I pull mine using a small prybar, (VERY GENTLY) going around the inside of the pulley and pushing. Use my hand on the other side to pull as well. After about 10 seconds she's ready to come off by hand.

All these stories of successful pulley removal aren't really helping $e-r any, it's really just salt in the wounds. He has an actual problem/question that needs answering. Anyone? I don't know the answer.

But these stories will help the next person who searches on ways to take off the crank pulley.

I don't have a real answer except the obvious. If something is in your way take it off. Don't worry your not the first person to puncture the front cover. We all have our stories.

Okay, I'll help then.

Remove lower and upper pans. You need to drop crossmember to remove upper pan.

Re-attach crossmember once upper pan removed, so you can remove passenger mount.

Then you can remove the timing cover with ease.

Installation in reverse order.

And just FYI, I went thru the same thing you did, needing to remove your timing cover/oil pump. A search in the future will help you better find your answers.

Me too. Works well. Just work it around like the lid of a paint can. Can't you pull the pick-up without taking the upper pan?
