Who said anything about a factory plenum? I'm saying anything you can do for gains in HP with ITBs can be done with a single throttle body. The only advantage to ITBs is better throttle response.
Dan made a point about tunable length, etc. This is all possible with a single throttle body. I'll amend my statement and say that ITBs also give an advantage in
ease of runner length/horn tuning. With ITBs, all you have to do is swap in new horns to tune the length of the runners. With a single throttle body and plenum you have to create a whole new plenum/intake to change the length of the runners. Another thing to note about ITBs is that they are limited in how short the runners can be. A single throttle body/plenum/intake design allows for much shorter runners if that's what you're after.
