Thread: RB20DET info needed

I have a friend that bought an s13 that already had the swap done. Google isn't turning up much info. It runs smooth and all but doesn't have much power. It's got crappy 205 tires and it won't even spin them in 1st gear.

I'm thinking that it might be out of time or not getting enough fuel. Do they require a better fuel pump?

Is it an interference engine?

It has a stock fuel pump, the fuel filter was full of mud, I found a massive boost leak, it still has a few small ones, and it still has no power. It doesn't have any type of boost controller and it's boosting 12 psi, I think it's only supposed to be going up to 8 or 9. It has the ceramic turbo. It runs really smooth, never trys to die or anything, just has no power.

try searching nico club rb section. lots of info on there but you need to search 1st or you will get flamed. If your friend cares about the car take the timing cover off and check the timing belt. The last owner might have not changed the belt n tesnioners and water pump. check the timming it should be 20 degrees.
