I've heard that it is really really hard to blow a KA, and that you actually have to try.

It may be hard to blow a KA but if an 18 y/o girl can do it might not be as hard as you think... haha. And whats with the JWT/Brian Crower knocking?

post a thread that says "JWT vs Brian Crower" and see what happens.

We are going the SR route just because of the mere fact that performance parts and much more abundant/cheaper and since im his technical advisor, and have been building SRs for years now, I have a ass load of extra parts we are going to use.

Not to mention IMO the SR can handle much more abuse than the KA..

I appreciate what you're saying, but don't agree with all of it. If you're going to put money into a motor, why not build one that you're able to cheaply replace the block? If some of the build parts are free, then nvm.

I built my SR and don't regret it a day. I love the motor. But for someone starting from scratch, my advice is to build the KA. Aftermarket support for it is pretty impressive, and you make better torque with the extra displacement.

I appreciate where you're coming from but here's the deal...SR's were more predominant than KA's in the first place and you shouldn't need to worry about replacing the block considering the SR motors are capable of handling much higher RPM's not to mention they're MADE for boost hence SR20DET.... if you looked at the bottom end on your SR compared to your KA you know what I'm talking about... besides even if something catastrophic randomly did happen, there's so many SR's blowin in the wind its nothing to grab hold of a donor. IMO you should always boost a motor thats made to handle it. Period.

agreed if you're planning to make under 400whp safely, you are fine on an sr block. to make 400 safely on a KA you would need to upgrade the internals.

Did I accidentally step into the "SR Fanboi" section?

SR's were more predominant because a factory solution already existed. The community has evolved. The KA is now a less expensive option that nets more power. More power for less money..how do you go wrong with that?

RPM's don't matter as much as power. I know what the "T" stands for, thanks for the lesson.

Are you new to the Nissan community? Because, at least on the surface, it appears that you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

I know what the bottom end of my SR looks like. I tore it down and put it back together.

Um, he's upgrading the internals anyways.

Sounds like someone has been reading too many issues of Super Street, and is now regurgitating word for word what Ricky Chu has been writing?

Honestly, since when have a motor's capabilities been measured by its revs? If motors were rated by their revs, then shoot, everyone throw your LSx motors in the garbage because they can only rev to 6500rpm!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Well Im not gonna sit here and argue with you people who choose to act like a child. Thats fine. Go ahead and build a KA. congrats. Go read a magazine or something. Who cares if your parts are cheap?? If you keep breaking them cuz your boosting a motor thats designed for N/A only then there goes your 'cheap' theory out the window. And since we're on the subject... why are you vomiting up your opinion on KA's when you built an SR?? uh DUH.... ok. If the KA was so friggin wonderful than hand over your SR and build a KA and keep your childish comments to a minimum in my direction. Thanks.
