Thread: 240sx purchase?

Hey I'm brand new to this forum for a good reason... thinkin of pickin up a '90 240 hatch... good body/interior... good trans (but auto :mad blown rod. Its a chick car with 140k on it and she just wants to unload it for $750. I think its worth it. I'll post pics when I get them.

i picked up a 92 with a blown motor for $200, try and work her down 750 for and auto car with a blown motor. if u search enough u can find one running for that price thats 5speed

Man thats pretty cheap... I'll try and jaw jack the price down with her.. I got some pics out of her it seems on the up and up. REAL clean car...which is the ticket cuz I'm gonna do an s14 blacktop swap probably no matter what. I'll definately still shop around.

IMO it really doesn't matter what transmission it's got, if the motor doesn't run...

It's not hard to do a 5-speed swap, especially if you're doing it along with an engine swap. I wouldn't to an S14 engine though unless you just feel like you have to have one; it's a lot more money for only a little more potential.

Yeah... I think im gonna do an s13 blacktop instead... easier swap w/5 spd conversion. Im a former mazda guy so ill need some help lol im used to the dreaded rotary....

If it's a clean chassis, the ~$500 range is a decent price.

I appreciate the imput... ill talk her down im sure of it... her daddy wants it outta the driveway pronto so it shouldnt be a problem. Besides i gotta save as much as I can for my DET swap not to mention all my JWT and brian crower parts haha

1) What's your swap budget? IMO, getting a running KA in and 5-speed swap is the way to go.
2) Why a SR, especially if you aren't going to keep it stock? Build a KA instead.

I personally like the smaller displacement I4. the DET's are built up more on the bottom end, capable of more R's, and have oil squirters already built in. I know the KA is capable of more bottom end grunt and torque but im going for a finely tuned car.

I thought I would comment on this.. Im a long time user on the Gnet forum..

We are going the SR route just because of the mere fact that performance parts and much more abundant/cheaper and since im his technical advisor, and have been building SRs for years now, I have a ass load of extra parts we are going to use.

Not to mention IMO the SR can handle much more abuse than the KA..
