Suspension for s14
Hey all, i'm a new member. I think it would be best to introduce myself first. Names Jason. I live in the Cayman Islands.

I'm 19 now. I previously owned a 97 pulsar with a bluebird swap.

Now i ordered a Silvia from japan which will be here anytime soon. its s14 model, which is completly stock. So since i am new to the silvia game was wondering about suspension. I am planning to run drag as it about the only thing we have here. A curcuit is "supposedly being built" but thats a fairy tale at the moment.

Anywho. I have research on Godspeed full coilovers. Wondering if anyone has that can shed some light on the ride comfort. or inform of any other brands worth looking into.

the car will be a daily driven.

I've heard it said that the stock suspension is best for drag racing. I have no way of verifying that, and the guy who said it (who's mostly a drag guy) later switched to coilovers, for whatever that's worth.

My impressions:
Honestly, I'd stay away from Godspeed. If you want quality coils stick with a better-known name brand. Tein, JiC, Apexi, etc. For the best ride comfort AND the best handling, you'll need to spend serious money - Tein Monoflex, KW Variant 1 or 2, or what more of us are starting to do, a custom Koni and Ground Control setup. These will run you minimum $1500 and probably closer to $2000.

Some things to keep in mind - the cheaper a coilover is, the lower its durability level will be. That is, it just won't last too long. The more expensive brands will last longer out of the box and are often rebuildable when they start to leak. The JDM brands will typically ride more stiffly than some others, simply because the roads in Japan are better-maintained and smoother than those here in the US (I have no idea what the roads are like in the Caymans where you live).

I've ridden in cars with Tein, Megan, Jic, Stance, and a couple different strut/spring combos. I ended up going with the abovementioned Koni/Ground control setup, but it wasn't cheap.

If you want more info I suggest going over to Zilvia and searching for "coilovers" and "ride quality" or for specific brand names.

Good luck.

TEINS FTW.....Alot of the guys in my area run them and absolutely love them. I myself use them as well..installed on my b14. Very good quality and alot of options if your pocket is tight.
