To answer the question, I will probably be deciding as close to the deadline as possible if I'm going to participate on the track. The way I look at is, since the track is only an hour from my house and not 8-9 hours like some of the past conventions, I'm going to save a lot on gas and thus $400 isn't as bad. But that's for me. No way would I drive from like Florida or something and pay that, with hotel, food, fuel etc. we're talking spending like $1,000 for the weekend.

I'm just going to find a parking lot to drift the Pathy in for free. $20 on a cheap box of wine and I'll be $380 to the good.

I have done a gaggle of trackdays and its tough to swallow $400 for one day (especially if its not at a track like COTA or Sears Point for instance)

I typically pay ~$375-$400 for TWO Days at VIR and that is hands down a much much better venue both on and off track.
