I dunno who to mention anymore.....

Perhaps we should be a bit more aware of what is happening next year because losing events will negatively affect attendance. Facts are facts.

-Where are the big girl pants at?
-What the hell happened?
-Who dropped the ball?

Can the forum pleased be informed so we can learn from the mistake and move on?

Sad, but very very true.

The questions you have asked are already answered several posts ago. See the QUOTE below.

Planning an event like this is very hard work so I am not going to waste my time and appease to anyone who wants to pout and complain that we are not having a road course event, if need be I will provide pacifiers for anyone who needs it.

@95g atl

None of my questions were answered. I see deflection and we are told to "pound sand".

Once again, could you imagine the hell have no fury wrath that would be brought down upon this server if the drag racing day were threatened in any way?

Less of all things that can happen, only learning from this mistake would be the one positive thing we can take from this.

Yes, the pound sand comment....I see it as a "F-CK Y'ALL comment, I have my own shit to deal with" but essentially it's the same, your comment was more politically correct.
...and I do strongly agree with the drag day comment. I could care less about the drag day, HOWEVER, i would not be happy if it was cancelled or didn't pan out. It is not fair to everyone else that wants it.

FOLKS, I cannot stress this enough. ALL past conventions (exception of year 2014 - quite frankly Nelsen Ledges is a piece of shit track that should be blown up due to its poor condition; and now 2015) have track days. All of them. They all have drag days. That is a FACT. Hell, the WEST Coast has their convention around a TRACK DAY. FACT...!!!

Learn from the mistakes, YES. I agree. Let's be positive, the bottom line was said best by JOE >>>> It takes a ton of effort and dedication to plan this event. Hell, it takes even more than that. Research, commitment, time, effort, frustration, etc., is what is required. Dealing with forum members that cannot pay, will not pay, and don't pay --- yup, all part of it. And yes, JOE was correct in saying this: if you cannot handle all of those aspects, then please do not take on the responsibility. Couldn't be any more correct than that.

Personally, I'm not going to the event this year b/c of this. There is talk about having a SOUTH "convention" (just like the WEST has theirs)....and if the South has a convention, you can bet your ass we WILL have a track day. Kyle, you are totally cool....so come on down w/us (if we have it).

Nelson Ledges is a fun track. It requires skill to drive that track, and that is one of the fastest tracks in the country with enough history to back it up as well. Nelson treated us well in 2012 with open arms. It is a shame what events transpired in 2014 to give us a salty taste for that facility and its managers.

I'll go wherever events are held. I am trying to get the Old Man to fly out to Cali for those events as well. It's more difficult doing that because we have to buffer days from work off to plan flight related stuff.

But we drove down South again, we will surely do it again. I was going to show up at VIR for the track event in November, and I should have went, but I had other commitments during the same date. I was actually going to drive down, track, and drive back. ~12 hours one way means I would be very tired when I got back to Southeastern PA but I would do it.

I'm bitter about Nelsen Ledges and it reflects that in my post. It has been around long before I have. It's just very BUMPY and the track was in poor condition. Hence my comment.

Maybe I will see you in Cali. I lived out there all of my child life and part of my adult life. Nice place to visit....but definitely not "driving" that far. Would have to fly on in to L.A. It's a long ways out so I don't know at this time.........

Let's not make it a "roadcourse guys" vs "drag guys" situation here. The pure fact of that matter is that its a hell of a lot easier to organize a drag event then it is to make sure we can actually have a roadcourse venue. Lets also not forget that the 2011 Convention that was to be held in Jersey by "roadcourse guys" fell apart and the only reason we had a get-together at all is because of some predominantly "drag guys" in CT who wanted us all to have a place to chill and BS about these stupid old cars that we all love so much.

That said, and I'm not saying that some things shouldn't have been done differently, these events are and always will be about the COMMUNITY. We do what we can to rotate hosts and be inclusive, sometimes it works out for the better and sometimes it doesn't but the point it that we all get as many of these econoboxes as we can into one place so we can admire them and talk shit and maybe run 'em a little. Not coming to the event as a whole because one portion is missing is counterproductive.

I'll be honest, I go to these conventions not for the cars, but for the people. I'm always the one drinking with the group and cracking jokes, hell I had the bar on 4 wheels last year and it was a success, twice. If you can say that because of the track day that your not gonna make then you won't be missed. This is a small community, this is the only time of year I actually leave my family at home to meet new faces.

That is very well said!
Some of these cars are nearly 25 years old. Hard to believe some are in fine condition and there is still a community around.

Counterproductive? Perhaps. However, last time I went to an event and brought a vehicle other than an old Nissan, I got slammed, mocked at, shit talked to, etc. I will NOT make that mistake again.

....and driving a 20 year old vehicle with a loud exhaust, uncomfortable seats, and bouncy suspension, over 500 miles is not something I want to do just to "park it" so people can say, wow, good looking Nissan. If I am going through all that effort, i'm damn well going to drive the old bitch on the track!

The convention is an old tradition. Old. yup. These cars are getting OLD. New members are coming in, new owners are buying these old cars. The whole community is changing. That's the good ole truth. I venture the convention will NEVER be what it was back in the day.

What this ultimately boils down to is having separate events. This is what is going to happen when all aspects of the sr20 convention are not covered. So let the north have their drag races, the south - road courses, and the west....whatever they do. Go where you want and call it done.
