Meeners I drover my Aunts Miata in 2012 and it was a soft top with no bar. No questions asked.

Not running because of rain would be the biggest mistake you will ever make. You will learn twice as much about car control and driving technique in the rain than you could possibly learn in the dry as a beginner.

I thought it was a ten year period, as that is when the next rating will come out, Corrrect? So starting Jan 2016 helmets will need to be 2010 or 2015 rated, or am I misreading the requirements? I thought the year new helmets came out was the last acceptable year for the oldest rating to still fly. Mine is a SA2005 and I hope not to have to buy another until the next ratings are out.

The general rule seems to be that you need to either run the current spec, or one generation behind. So SA2010/2005 right now. When the SA2015's come out, the '05 will expire. And some tracks/organizers are more forgiving than others.

And some tracks are requiring full face helmets starting this year (njmp)
