For the most part, it's up to us. In 2012, the track rep/instructor (Reed) gave us "the speech" in the morning meeting. We also had classroom instruction regarding track layout, passing zones, flags etc, etc. I also think Reed hopped in his car and paced the Novice group for a few laps. After that, it was us that provided in-car instruction to the folks that requested it. In 2012, most of the day was torrential downpours. I think we only had 2 light impacts into the tire wall(s). Lots of spins and flying mud, though. I was amazed no one had the "big one". In hindsight, I think all of that rain kept us on our toes and hence out of trouble. It also made the wear and tear on the equipment a non-issue. As a matter fact, I don't think anyone broke. A dry track could be a different story, though.
