My point being is I'm seeing a lot of old school members starting to show up and have all kinds opinions of the current convention but were no where to be found when the conventions almost came to an end. I'm sure you have valid reasons though.

Also for going to all these convention how do you not know who Mark is? The problem with the Serca conventions I saw was the segregation. Either its people are to shy, or too cool to talk to others that they don't know. Kinda like high school all over again. in 2012 everybody hung out the whole time and we were one big group, not little groups or clicks and thats what I'm trying to get away from.

Sorry if I may come across like a douchebag, I have a lot of time and passion into these convention so I get opinionated, anyways we look forward for you and everyone else coming out for 2014, we'll have some drinks and get to know everyone a little better

Nah, I've thought about this in the past, Its a different crowd. This is more of an sr20 thing, those platforms tend to have owners who come and go. Sr20 people tend to stick around.

Not coming across like one at all sir! I wanted to come to 2011 and 2012, but insert usual excuses here (mine was a new job, no PTO available for capital to go, etc). And I totally agree, I stuck around people who I know, I'm not saying its good or bad, and this year I branched out quite a bit, I've just been a bit of a hermit until late. No ones fault but my own . I know a lot of forum names, but that's about it, and I've been mostly involved with G20.net for the past 4ish years (never really became active on the dash after the split and wasn't very active besides lurking on the old forum).

And your right, we DO need that, of course clicks will always happen, there is no changing that. The prior ones almost came to an end because people stopped caring about the actual core values of the convention, IMO people would just host one to say there would be one this year and go through the motions. I can say that conventions are nothing like what they were in 2002-2005 range, but that happens to almost every type of event, forum, hobby, etc. Everything has its cylces, people fade in and out and will always have opinions. You go with what you have and make it the best you can, then hope for the best.

You could go farther and say that back in the day, the SERCA group was the largest SE-R group in the US, and now look at the west coast , we can barely get local meets together!

And I agree, inviting B15 and B16 folks is great on paper, but the lifecycle of those owners are quite sparatic.

I agree we should try and branch out. Maybe the 240 guy's would be down. I know most think the 240 drifto crowd are a bunch of asshats but I actually know a bunch that are very cool.

240 owners come in different forms, Yes you have the ones who drift, or look down on us fwd folks, and then the cools guys. Somewhat curious on what the 240 guys do convention wise, do they have their own thing, NICO, or piggy back off the Z conventions?

As far as I know, the 240 guys with SR swaps are invited. Maybe not formally and maybe they aren't courted enough, but I hope they know they are just as welcome as the FWD SR guys. Same goes for Datsuns and anything else SR-swapped.
And obviously anyone with even half a toe in the automotive scene and can put up with us is always welcome!

Louie, I think the 240 guys do NICO fest for the most part?

However, because of how community-oriented the convention is, it tends to be the FWD guys. We have a strong community. I'm not even sure making the convention too much bigger is something we need or want.

Ha ha, I was thinking the same thing, there are "drifter" 240 guys, "professional drifter" 240 guys, "240" guys in general, and then a mix in between. I will say though that some of the 240 drifter guys get a bad rap, I know a few folks here in town that are SUPER nice but often times get bundled into the idiot crowd.

Other then the SPEC 240 that roams around the east coast, not sure how many of them are out and about on that side these days? In Phoenix we don't have any 240 track cars, they either went full drift, or stopped coming out for more versatile FWD or RWD cars. The Z convention actually only had 1-2 here this time around that I recall. NICO has a good "show" presence for 240's but nothing I've seen otherwise, even NOPI or Modified had very few this year, they've been replaced by FRS/BRZ's. I'm chief of tech for my NASA region and we don't have any that runs with us any more, we have one old Z that has an LS swapped in, but otherwise they've all but died off.

Agreed, look at 2013, there were quite a few non SR20 powered cars out there this year, I think you could offer other communities the opportunity to join in to help the track presence as well as the drags, but your major market will still always be the SR crowd specifically.

I feel I saw similar non-SR attendance in all three I've been to so far (2009, 2012, and 2013).

2009 had a good mix of Datsun, S2k, Lotus, etc. at the road course at least.

2012 had an entire Subaru mini-meet going on the entire time.

Maybe, post a feeler on the appropriate forums asking if they would be interested in attending?
