Oh I agree, I meant mine as banter, if people can go they will, if they can't then they wont, I've been going to so many over the years that the line blurs on who is being serious or not, ha!

Gomba is cool people, I believe Joe wasn't directing his comments just towards him. As a convention organizer I understand the frustration Joe has. I especially can't stand when people say they'll just wait for the follow year's convention as if conventions are a for sure thing to continue on.

Like Joe said if anyone has interest in hosting such an event, come speak with us.

GROW THE FUCK UP

This happens every year about this time. If you want a convention in your back yard then here is what you need to do: grow some ballz, put your big boy pants on, and bring a chair over to the adult table. Those of us that do the work every year to pull off the convention would love some more help. And here is a really outrageous thought - consider coming to a convention that is not close to you first. Think about it like this. If you aren't willing to come to the conventions we are already hosting, which by the way are attended by people from all over these United States, why would anyone come to your convention? It's going to be you and your local friends. Over here at the adult table we call that a meet.

End Rant

+1, a local convention hasn't been around the Phoenix area since 2002, yet I still drive across country or fly out for conventions, man up or just don't show up and let us enjoy!

Besides this year,
which conventions have you attended?

Heavily modified focuses? I guess if there are so many out there, I need to adjust my focus I'm sure Ford sold a lot of Ford Tempos as well during the 90's, it doesn't mean you see a turbo one every day(ever?).

Hey Joe(and roll-eyes),

People seem to be thinking you're directing this post somewhat towards my comments and that being true or not, I feel the need to address this post for those that think you were which may include yourself..

First off, I've attended 2 conventions. 2010 Omaha & 2012 Ohio. Pretty sure I had the record for LONGEST drive in a turbo, ass-pounding, no cruise-control b14 that year and maybe others. 700+ miles one way and 1400 miles round trip. That doesn't include all the driving I did during the convention which adds up to a couple hundred more, probably over 2000 miles. Looking at Google Maps tells me we both made pretty much the same drive in terms of distance. Now, was it a long drive - hell yes. Did I make it - hell yes.

Being that there wasn't a public discussion about where the 2014 convention would be (unless I missed it), I thought I'd comment on where the NEXT (read: 2015) convention should be(as mentioned in my post). I wasn't complaining about the location of 2014, only suggesting we should consider having it somewhere a little more west. Opening dialogue. The conventions for the last 3 years including next year have all been pretty heavily weighted on the eastern side of the US. Now, are there people willing to host it in Indiana or near Chicago? I have no idea, but if there is, we should consider it. Obviously if there aren't people there/willing to host then it won't happen.

Also, a convention in Indy would still be 500 mile one-way drive for me. Not sure I call that close. Close-R, but not close.

I wasn't singling anyone out, it was just a general frustration rant.

And that I can recall Jon was in Vegas, Savannah, Nebraska, and Atlanta. Also certainly was at Phoenix since he was one of the organizers back then.

G,

Unfortunately with the Convention honestly being in "save" mode it is not open to the public as far as where it should be held and the more I think about it it shouldn't be. I say this because the public does not organize the Convention. A group of individuals does. So again I feel it should not be made up to the public at this time.

We came to agreement that the Convention should to come back to Ohio for many reason. When I say "we" I mean the people who have within the last 2+ years litteraly saved the Convention. Now yes the publics attendance plays a huge roll but, setting one up and I am sure you will agree is a lot of work. It is not easy. It takes a lot of time and at times adds more stress that what some can imagine. I for one enjoy organizing meets and with the 2012 Convention being so succesful it made me want to organize another one with the help of some really good friends. Yes it would be nice to cater to everyone as far as location but, the fact is that is impossible. Also we have been directing location towards the East Coast for good reasons as well.

I did not post this to argue nor debate. It's just a simple statement.

Once dates are made solid a form thread will be created with all the information.

Don't forget the ~800 ft. elevation difference.

I'd figured it was about a 0.2 second difference for cars in the 13-14 second bracket.
