I understand a portion of the proceeds are going to Joe but like I said $50 is a lot and it may seem to certain individuals that your trying to make money off our convention which I don't agree with.

If your going to post photos on here can you be kind enough to take your copyright off or make it smaller and put it in the corner.

You don't get something for nothing...

last year we got free photos, where were you?

I was at home - didn't have any vacation days.
I didn't give anything so I didn't get anything.

We'll last year I was too busy running the convention to enjoy it giving all my free time and efforts to make sure everyone had a great time while using my vacation time to visit venues in Ohio. But what did I get in return? Nothing because I don't expect shit. So I don't get your point.

I hope that by running the convention last year, you at least got the satisfaction of having run a successful event and knew that you had the appreciation of the attendees. I didn't go but I still appreciate what you did; I have talked to many previous organizers and I know from them that it's much harder than anyone can imagine - it really is "taking one for the team".
What Manny & Conner did is their decision; if someone invests in pro grade equipment, adds pro grade effort and skills to take pro grade photos and invests the time and effort to crop and prep the photos so that they are "print ready", I think that there is nothing wrong with asking for money in return, especially if a portion goes back to pay off the convention bills.

DVD holds more info than anything else, short of flash drives and SD cards. DVDs are also cheaper than the others.

I agree your points are valid and thanks for the appreciation.

I have more of an issue with the pricing of the cd's. Its not so much the "selling" of the cd's. Atlease if pictures are going to be posted on this forum, remove or change the size and location of the copyright info. Those 2 things alone is what I have a problem with. Thanks for the response.

I have raced and crew for race cars at many tracks on the east coast and I have never had a professional photographer offer pictures for free. I don't know if he was hired to do this, but he gave his time to do it, shouldn't he have some kind of compensation?

I guess I'll weigh in since I caused the stir.
People who have the desire to see their photos will buy them, or figure a way around the sale process. The photos that are posted with the watermarks were not sold as the watermark is removed during the sale process. If I post a photo here, it will not have the watermark.

I'm not getting personal about pricing, storage or anything else. I take professional pictures and I sell professional pictures. If you have the skills, you can do the same. If you decide to donate them, that is on you. I donated a DVD as a prize to the raffle and I will donate a portion of the sales proceeds to the next convention organizer. That is my contribution for this year. I have organized events in the past (not on this scale) so I can completely sympathize with you on that, but as an organizer, you know that is going to happen, and that is why so few people actually do it. I commend you on your efforts as I understand that last years convention was great!

For those of you that ordered DVD's, thank you very much for your support!

So is this more of a track day DVD or a convention DVD?

And are their any pictures of the drag strip day?
