Re: deer comment. I'm not able to search YouTube at the moment, but someone can find the Corvette that collected a deer in the windshield during a track day (with his helmet visor open) and shielded his eyes from the glass with his hand.

I keep my visor down at all times in the car now, and I wouldn't run an open faced helmet without feeling sketchy.

I was there for that event. It was Hyperfest at Summit Point.

If you look closely, the guy had the presence of mind to see the deer from far out, get on the brakes (well he was braking for turn 1 anywho), and when he realized he couldn't stop in time, he placed his hands over his eyes knowing the visor was up..............The whole removing the hands from the wheel though

Errrrrr, what's your reasoning for disabling the airbag?? Seems like you are over thinking this track day thing..............

I would keep the airbags active for the track day. Traction control and maybe ABS are things you might consider disabling, but not the airbags... Even if it is a cheap American car that might set them off mid-auto-x (more YouTube videos to search for...) I would still keep them active. If you happen to have a collision, you'll want those things working.

I overthink everything..LOL Its a curse sometimes.Thats just me.
But my thoughts are that a 20+ year old ,generation 1 airbag may be unsafe...thats why I asked.maybe I really dont need to worry about it.
