With 60 drivers we are planning to have 3 run groups. I'm thinking 2 25 minute sessions before and after lunch for each group. And open track for the final hour of the day. So I would call that 3 hours on track if you'd like

So frustrated and in all honesty sad that I have resorted to begging to keep this alive.

The similarities that I'm seeing with 2011 and 2013 is you can't expect to just post a thread on a couple of forums and expect people to open there wallets for a road course day 6-8 months from now. Especially around the hoildays. Thats pretty much what happened with 2011 and they didn't do much to create a buzz. Maybe a facebook promoting the day. Remember there are alot of people who don't frequent this forum and may not know about this event. At this years event I met alot of non dash members who came to Ohio. Though it would be nice to have the majority of b and s chassis cars on the track, thats probably not going to happen and opening it to other car enthusiast may make more sense. I just don't want to see a cancellation. Maybe we need to start selling shirts to help fund the track day? Or creating a donation page of some sort.

Joe I know you have the recipe for success, you did it before.

Also not trying to point fingers here to anyone in particular, but it frustrates me when I see post about not going to an "drag race or road course only convention"
Racing is the last thing on my mind at conventions. If we were just at a hotel with no racing, I'd still go. At this point its more about the people.

Just my 2 cents,

This! 2011 was still awesome.

Track day is just gravy to make it easier to justify. I also want to point out that this event is the only event where I have to prepay >1 month in advance... I don't mind doing it, but it is far from the norm to have to prepay this far out. Registrations usually happen much closer to events when people know schedules and if their car is running at the time. Sadly there isn't an easy fix for us since we don't have a person or organization to just bank roll this for us.

Agreed, BUT... that's more of an OG mentality than anything, and there aren't enough of 'us' to make an economically viable convention.

Folks who haven't been to multiple conventions, or built relationships on the forum for decades aren't going to plan a weekend around hanging around a hotel lobby with people they've never met.

The Vegas convention was very lightly attended, but I had an awesome time hanging out in George & Leslie Peters garage, and going to the Hoover dam with my SE-R buddies.

What were first time attendees doing when half the convention was in George's garage? I have no idea, but if I were one of them, I doubt I'd have gone out of my way to go the next year.

Why not go ahead and offer spots to the NON SR20 crowd just so we can seal the date in stone?

I think it will be SA2005, but will find out for sure.

At this point there is enough to make our initial deposit. I can cover the last $597 during the PayPal to my bank transfer period since I know it will hit my account within 4-5 days. I am driving up to AMP today with a check to sign the contract and lock everything down.

Thanks to everyone who has stepped up. And as a reminder, there are only 15 discounted spots still available.

/\ hopefully all goes well , thanks Joe .

I remember last time i went to the 09 one in savannah the turn out and track day participation was good . Plus the last day at the park I took a pic where there was At least 50 assorted sr20 powered cars .

I know everyone's financial situation varies and the distance people are willing to travel are just two things people have to deal with just either bite the bullet and go with it now or save for the next month or two and go all in .

I'm trying to motivate a few that drive up with me last time to come again .

Anyone hear from Russell Or Andy Roberts ? I know booth of them are likely to go.

I hope Russell will go.He has a couple options for cars to take too.
I talked to Andy a couple months ago,and he said he was thinking of getting out of the game(racing anyway)...hope not.He is a cool dude.
This is all hearsay,though.
