The fine for excessive sound levels is due to a county ordinance that was a big deal in the track even get permitted for construction. It is a beautiful part of the north Georgia mountains. There was originally a lot of local resistance to it even being built. They are doing everything they can to remain good neighbors.

if your boosted with a full exhaust you should have no problems being under the limit. 98 db is louder than you think especially at 50 ft.

etown had that problem a while ago. Track was there before and houses were built around it and they started to complain.

Yea,they still do have the noise curfew. But the township fines the track not the car owners.

I'll bring a variety of clamp-on turndowns and turnaways. Only $500 to rent one if you blow the meter.

The track doesn't fine the drivers. If busted by the county, they pass the charge for the fine to group (us) renting the track. And they have clamp in plugs as well, they want you to run and have fun. It's not like the first violation would be the problem. Not fixing an observed violation would be the problem. And we won't let that happen.

Heck... If I can get my '91 fixed and running I have no excuse not to show up for this convention.

As to AMP's sound limits I have first hand experience dealing with this track and it's management with SCCA.

Don't mess around with them and try to game the meter. They will bust you in heartbeat.

As for clamp on sound defeaters, the only ones approved by AMP are the ones SOLD by AMP.

It really is a great track with incredible elevation change. It is a challenging track as well. I know of at least 2 people who have wadded their cars up on that track since it opened earlier this year.
