Thread: Savannah......or maybe not?!!

Are we anything close to nailing down a date...any thread on that around?

I will be at CMP in two weeks for a day on the track. bhowle regularly instructs there.

Complaints coming mostly from individuals how hadn't attended the past 2-3 conventions

No faith in us I tells ya

Even our back up plans have back up plans. Just confirming venues before details are posted. Last time I check we have plenty of time

i dont care where it is, as long as the drive to the drag strip(1/4 mile) is maz 1 hr on the drag day i am there, i think we should go with kyle/viprdude's idea of virginia or something like that

track day- summit point motorsports park
drag day- mason dixon dragway

both are within reasonable drive of each other and hotels, attractions, etc...savanha would be great but as Joe said, the closest track is 2hours or so away and the road course is 15 min away from the hotel...not quite eaqualy balanced my .02

You can only stand driving crying back to the hotel for a hour?

Is Savannah still on the table or have the drag racers ruined it for the rest of us? I mean really unless you have something that runs 12's or better drag racing is pretty boring, and it is hard on your car. I think it is short sighted and stupid to pass up a great location, that is affordable, has a fun road course, and had a successful convention in the past simply because the drag racers can't make do with an 1/8 mile track.

If Savannah is no longer an option have you considered having the convention in Jacksonville. Pooler and Roebling road is 2 hours to the north. Jacksonville has lots of cheap hotels, nice restraunts and a nice beach. If you really must have a 1/4 mile track Gainesville Raceway is an hour and a half to the south west.

Love how you say the "Drag Racers"....... Well I guess as per your comments I am a "Drag Racer" and no I personally am not out to ruin the Convention. We are going to cater like I have mentioned before to both "Drag Racers" and road racers equally... BTW I love how you just segragrated the Community........ That's not what this is all about..

As for Jax I don't that is a good idea for 2013..... I highly doubt the "Road Racers" want to travel 2 hours to a road course.... I am sure "they" are not out to ruin the Convention either

I am glad that this subject is being overlooked by some great people to make sure everybody will be happy. First off if you have been to a convention you know that the people are the #1 reason to go and to enjoy the community the cars come second. Second thing is for the people saying that the "drag racers " witch i would def fall under that category are ruining things i believe that's terrible . Also to say that we have to accept a 1/8 mile track is terrible thats like the people that want drag racing to say you road racers have to race on a tiny go kart track . Or to say unless it goes 12's its foolish for one hammering hank goes out there every year in a stock sel runs 15's and has a great time.

THIS IS NOT DRAG RACERS AND ROAD RACERS, WE ARE SR20 RACERS THATS IT .
