The 1/8 strip is only an hour from Cambria. and an 1/8 drag day still gives you these same things:

The thing I like about drag racing is the fact that it gives a lot of time to look at the cars and talk to people, plus the folks that do choose to run, you get to see how the cars perform.

Drag racing used to be considered part of the 'free day' anyway.

No insult but you don't know what you are talking about. Savannah is in the yellow for driving distances (so it didn't 'win'). The 1/4 mile also draws more people than the road course.

I wasn't clear.

Evidently people who wanted drag racing said they'd rather make a drive to a 1/4 mile track than run at an 1/8 mile track.

How about we revisit the idea of the convention without a track day? That went over well.

Does someone have a list with track day sites that are within an hour of 1/4 mile tracks? Then we'll have a clear visual on our options if both of those are considered "musts."

YES I do. I am in charge of it. It is private to committee members. There are 2 other tracks that meet criteria already.
