I think Savannah River (46 miles from hotel) might be a good shakedown track for Friday night. And then maybe Carolina Dragway (114miles from hotel) for the main event on Sat? 1 and/or 2 hour drive times aren't too bad?

I like the idea of having a homebase next to Savannah. There's some interesting things to do there within a short drive. If you base the thing out in the middle of nowhere, it's a drive just to find simple things like a place to eat. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not too fond of driving 1600+ miles and spending over $1K in expenses to eat at a Waffle house/truck stop every day I'm there. Don't even get me going on what it would be like to find Crown Royal for Cliffy.

To me, that is way too much drive time. The last thing I want to do is drive down to a convention and then drive all over the place to participate.

^^^agree. But that's an easy opinion for me 'cause I think drag racing is B-O-R-I-N-G.

Seriously, I've never been to one drag event during a convention. Track day is where it's at.

The thing I like about drag racing is the fact that it gives a lot of time to look at the cars and talk to people, plus the folks that do choose to run, you get to see how the cars perform.

The track day kind of makes that hard because people are either in a session or getting ready for a session....

The convention will not happen without a drag day. So we need to cater to both the same.

Build a fast car and I promise you it will not be boring. Hell my race with Bes was the race of the day LOL...

Good points.

Sounds like it's going to be a tough call, then.
