I want to thank Rob and Lou for organizing a great convention. It was clear from the initial list of possible attendees that this was going to be a convention that I just couldn't afford to miss. The turn-out just seemed to snowball and I had to catch that wave. I was glad I did. From the moment I picked up my t-shirt Louie was beaming, just happy as a clam getting to meet everyone. And Rob shook my hand and made Katie feel right at home instantly congratulating her on our new home (something I would struggle to remember being half as busy as Rob was that moment/weekend). Rob then offered too kindly to find me fuel in the middle of all the madness of the convention and I just could not impose that sort of thing. The sentiment was highly appreciated Rob. You guys pulled it off, and you may not fully know it but you've taught us all so much with this success that we will surely take with us in the future.
Please thank your family and friends for helping out and making the Sunday picnic another day to remember just as good as the others.
I have to thank Nathan (wnwright) for being the perfect gentleman and giving Katie the ride-along of her life. One session on the track with someone skilled and so considerate was all it took to have her talking racing all weekend and still even today. Without that I'm not sure how long it would have taken to convert her.
It was a pleasure racing on the track with everyone in B-group but due to the rain and how we were lined up at the start I got to have my first taste of actual racing out there with Nathan and it was a total blast. It was so much fun following on the sessions where he couldn't get
any traction, watching him slide all around and being able to follow through the madness of Nelsen Ledges in the rain.
Off-track it was nice to chat and just unwind all weekend and you knew that when you hung out with Nate you were going to feel welcomed.
Connor didn't want my pretzles or Reese's pieces so he can go fuck a duck.
Cliff and Chris were giving me so much shit all weekend, I'm surprised it took me so long to figure out why my name tag was underlined and no one else's was!
You guys make a kid feel welcome the only way two jack-asses can.
Randy (ny5speed) and Randy (his father) are so down to earth and were so accommodating to Katie and me all weekend. We had dinner Friday night before getting turned away at the drag strip entrance and they picked up the tab at Chili's. They didn't make fun of my pink drink, and when Katie and I just wanted to relax and have a slow evening they were on the same page. They both had a blast from what I could tell on the track(s) and I didn't get to see him on the road course in his white B13 but Randy impressed me to no end on the drag strip with pass after pass in impressive territory for a VE setup. With the drag radials he was deep into the 13s and I wouldn't have rather gone head-to-head with anyone else. Maybe we can race again next year for that trophy so I can redeem myself?
Kyle, I liked talking to you and your father. Everyone was having such a good time and you two were no exception. I only wish I could have seen that Oregon trail you embarked on Friday morning.
Hank schooled Katie and me on some revolutionary war appreciation on Sunday (edit: Civil War duh!). His questions and enthusiasm for the artifacts was contagious.
Shawn, we'll lead you with your own GPS anywhere, anytime, any place.
Joe and Gloria and Kimmie were our guiding light on Thursday and gave the entire trip a warm glow, making us feel like family and making sure we got home okay to SC. You guys rock!
Seriously though, Connor is just as hilarious in person as I imagined. I should ruin his website on a weekly basis, since it seems to put him in a good mood. Just don't try to make his butt vibrate. He doesn't seem to take that too well.
Hey Connor, let me know what kind of candy you like. I'll make sure to fill the panel van to the brim next time.
