Bes,

Breakin takes one day....Seriously. No need for a 500 or 1000 mile breakin on the car. Couple heat cycles with mild load placed on the rings, low rev, heavy throttle and good to go. Change the oil and call it a day.

Fuck a break in lol. Both my last builds were pretty much heat cycled a few times, oil change and the right onto the synonymous for tuning. And then the last motor went straight to the track for a two day event right after tuning lol. It worked out, but I know how nerve racking it is.. you've still got some time im sure you'll get it ready in time. You better! Cause we have a date at the strip haha

Yep, never had an issue with short breakins.

Seriously, we put 50 miles on my buddies 2.2L build 3 or 4 heat cycles, heavy load, low rpm. changed the oil and compression tested it and broke the 300psi compression tester I had. lol. Called it good.

Thats how ive done ever built motor ive done and never had an issue. Seriously when im done with my motor, i will tune the out of boost area and heavy load low rpm area, give it a couple heat cycles and change the oil and its going straight to the dyno and then to the track.

I've always done the opposite, varried revs with very little load.

Eh to each their own I guess. With boost you want to break the rings in with boost pressure so best thing you can do is do a heavy load low rpm breakin staying below 5k. Seems to work really well.

But yeah there is absolutely no need for 500 or however many mile breakin that most people do. Bearings dont need broken in. Its all strictly for ring breakin which happens almost right away and during the first couple heat cycles.

at that point id just jump in with some one.

if it gets close, why not just install the aem on the 2.0 liter get a nasty marsh tuen and roll out with your "street car."

That could be a possibility but we would like the 2.0 to get into its new body.

We'll see what happens. I would like a decent 5-600 mile break in before abusing it. My school schedule is just a killer which leaves very little time to do the work especially when I don't have any helping hands here. So much shit to do with about 5 weeks to go. I'll try and pull some shit outta my ass to make it lol

Pending how my new job situation is and if I can finally get my break for what I went to school for, this is far enough away I could maybe see about a road trip. A lot of it depends on if I can get vacation or take a point in order to drive up ( and find a hotel for that matter ). I think it would be one hell of a weekend, even if I didnt participate. Knowing how all automotive events go, its usually nice to have an extra set of hands around. It would be nice to see some old faces and meet some of the northern people. Who knows. I do know one thing though, I really would like to witness this epic All motor vs Boost showdown that is brewing. Maybe I could get a buddies HD recording and do video/photo shooting? who knows.
