Ultimate SE-R challenge at the 2011 convention
The Idea:
I had the idea of organizing an Ultimate SE-R challenge at the convention this year. The purpose of this thread is to provide a BASIC outline of how the event will work and to gauge interest in who is willing to participate. Just like a convention this competition will not be possible without commitment from attendee's bringing their cars.

The Event basics:
This event will be much like the Ultimate Street Car challenge and the $20XX challenge put on by GRM. I will create judging and scoring criteria that level's the playing field between all competitors. ALL competitor's must be pre-registered (there is NO FEE FOR THIS) and MUST compete in all 3 venue's in which they will be judged to be eligible for the Ultimate SE-R prize.

People may also compete in each individual event for a chance to win a prize for taking top honors in that competition as well.

Drag Racing.
Autocross.
Car Show where we will judge engineering, fit and finish, and overall execution.

Quite simply the person with the highest overall score takes top honors, bragging rights, and a prize if they are lucky.

Detailed criteria about how the event will be judged and calculated will follow.

What we need to make this happen:

A minimum of 5 people to step up and compete in this event and be comfortable doing all 3 venue's. Given that there is no track day these three events are not as punishing on a car as a track day, this is why I think this is a great way to show off performance as a whole and not just in one area. We build our cars to be high performance machines, why not throw them in the ring together.

This is not limited to turbo only or high HP cars. In fact the best overall car that has zero mechanical issues will win this thing. Please send me a private message if you are 100% willing able to enter. I would like your real name as well as an overview of your car so I can get a feel for how to class and index this thing to make it fair. I will add your name to the entry list once I have this information.

2011 Ultimate SE-R challenge participants:

1. Shawn Byrne B13 SE-R
2. Joe Schintzius B13 NX
3. Randy Cresci B13 SE-R
4. Aaron Barbosa B13 SE-R
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

About me:
Just wanted to give some insight in to who I am and why I feel qualified to organize this and createa rule set that all will have to follow. I have been involved with these cars since 1996. I have written for both Nissan Performance Mag and MotoIQ in documenting the build of my 200sx. Additionally I have over 10 years of motor sports competition under my belt from autocross, NASA time trials, and HPDE events. Additionally before racing I built and competed in car audio competitions with USAC and IASCA and also judged and competed in import car shows. Thus I feel my experience is such that I can create a fair set of rules that will accurately determine the all around best performing car at the convention. I am a straight shooter and not shy about my logic. if you take issue with how the event is structured or have input to share PLEASE send me a PM and we will discuss in an adult manner. I look forward to setting this up.

SR Challenge rules & details.

This challenge is open to the following cars:

Nissan/Infiniti chassis cars

B12,B13,B14,B15,B16

P10/11

N series pulsar's

There is no motor requirement at this point. If the motor is IN one of the above chassis then your good. VQ, GA, whatever.

Car Show -
Entrants will be judged on a defined set of criteria and given points within the criteria set. There will be a panel of 3 judges that overlooks each car and assigns a value on a judging sheet, the scores will then be added together for a representative score. This system offers the best consistency in judging.

Drag Racing - $35 entry fee paid at the track.
Drag racing is easy, the person with the best possible E.T. will score the most points. Whether or not there is an indexing (handicapping) system put in place for NA vs Turbo will depend on the entrants. There WILL be an index system based on street tires vs slicks that will factor in to be an equalizer.

Autocross - $35 entry fee paid at the autocross.
The autocross will be judged according to actual recorded raw time and indexed based on the cars classification. I will classify the cars prior to the event and use the SCCA index for the assigned class to calculate the times. This will ensure that people on race tires vs. street tires will be judged fairly.

Details:
The WINNER of the 2011 SR challenge will be the person with the best overall performance for all 3 venues after the event results are tabulated.

Schedule of Events:

Friday night - Car Show Judging. This is the best because everyone's cars should be the cleanest BEFORE DRAG RACING AND AUTOCROSSING

Saturday - Drag Racing

Sunday - Autocross

Sunday Afternoon - Winners will be announced at picnic and prizes will be awarded.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT -

We are opening up each event to INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION as well. Thus we are changing it so that people MAY participate in ANY of the challenges for top honors. We are doing our best to obtain prizes for the winners of each event as well as the overall winner. So for those that wanted to enter the car show, drag race, or autocross as an individual event, you can now do that.

Details will follow for registration for these events. THERE WILL BE NO FEE TO REGISTER. You will only have the fees associated with Drag Racing and Autocross that have already been posted.
