It was almost cheaper than our lunch at the airport when we were flying out! I think the lunch was like $23 and the daily rate for the rental was like $34 or so. But remember, we were in Omaha, NE. We usually cruise the lot to find the best cars. In Omaha, we got to about the 10th car deep in the row and we were into people's personal cars! We got the cube because of a lack of a better car and it was a good find. We rented it to be funny but it turned out to be a good car

hyundai elantra or genesis!

I have been to two conventions with rentals, buth were supercharged Grand Prix, but you won't find those now. I roasted the shit out of the brakes and tires and the car went into safe mode like 4 times from overheating the supercharger or the transmission. LOVED IT!

LOL - we had the vette in safe mode several times in Vegas due to tranny temps too! The minis we had in Omaha were a hoot as well, see if any of those are available.

Hertz has the zHz (corvette)
National/Alamo/Enterprise - Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, Charger.

Why not the new Maxima? I would imagine that being pretty balsy out on track. Probably understeers like a pig but who cares?

Most CVT's are weird on the track from what I've heard. The Cube had a low gear that the people that rented it were able to put it into so it wasn't so bad

The Maxima has a "shift-tronic CVT". You can manually shift through at least 6 gears like a normal trans would.

LOL, that's just to make you "feel better"

An automatic would be better than the CVT in that car.

For the record, I *LOVE* the new Maxima. The only problem with it is the transmission. I'm the biggest Nissan whore out there but the CVT is not meant for the track. For a cruiser, the cvt is great; comfortable, plenty of power when you want/need it, great gas mileage, and somewhat sporty. At the track though, it falls on it's face

How about the new Dodge Avenger R/T? They trashed the 2.4l for this model and stuffed the 3.8l V6 in there. Curb weight is most likely similar to the Max. It's non-CVT too.

They always wind up with the crappier models at rentals so you'll wind up with a 1.8L (somehow) Avenger with 1WD (somehow)

Despite what the rental agency will tell you is available, you're always best off to just walk their lot prior to going up to the counter so you know what is available and then make a specific request... give them the car number too
