Yes, this is from the 2011 Convention website.

Run Groups
As soon as we have registration up and running and people start registering, we will be setting up run groups. Typically there is HPDE1 (Green) which is complete newbies or maybe 1-2 track events but not this particular course, HPDE2 (White) which is a few track events (3-4) or a HPDE3 driver who has never done this particular course, HPDE3 (Blue) which is an intermediate level driver who has done probably 5-10 events, HPDE4 (Red) who has done in the range of 10+ track days, and HPDE5 (Black) who are licensed instructors. The number of events you have done to be in a particular group is not written in stone; it is completely subjective

First, I dont' want anyone to be under the misconception that this is competitive in any way, shape, or form.

HPDE is meant to be DRIVER'S EDUCATION. You learn how to drive your car fast around a racetrack but no one is being timed, no one should be timing, no one wins any trophies, and no one really cares who passes who. As they say, you can't win at HPDE but you can certainly lose... if you have an incident from pushing too hard or make contact with another car, you're going to be sorry as you'll be responsible for the repairs... and you LOSE.

So, that being said, it sounds like you may be a candidate for HPDE1? How many events have you done? You can shoot me a PM or e-mail if you prefer. But based on your experience, we'll place you in a run group.

Yes, HPDE1 is the most inexperienced. Usually HPDE1 is anywhere from never ever meaning you've never done a track event before up to people who've done 1 event per year for the past 2-3 years. It starts with HPDE1 and then 2, 3, and 4. The instructors are HPDE5 and typically run for a discounted rate since they are there providing a volunteer service to the HPDE1 students.

Weird, it's jsut a PDF. Here's what the PDF says:

The organizers of the 2011 Nissan-Infiniti National Convention would like to offer an Early-Bird Track Purchase Program. The details are listed below but, in short, we would like to generate upfront money while getting people involved with a vested interest in promoting and making this convention work. In return, we offer the opportunity to get a discounted track day for those willing to register early.

Time Period
The time period will be from midnight on January 1, 2011 through midnight on January 31, 2011 at which time early registration will be offered.

Price
The purchase price for HPDE1 students shall be $225. The purchase price for HPDE2, HPDE3, and HPDE4 students shall be $200. As is standard in NASA Northeast, the HPDE1 students pay more money to subsidize the instructors that are there, committed to servicing the HPDE1 students.

Discount
If the track event portion of this convention breaks even meaning that the monies taken in from registrants equals the cost of renting the track (including the potential discount) on or before July 1, 2011, the organizers will refund a total of $100 to the Early-Bird Registrant. We will contact the registrant to find out how the registrant would like their refund as some may chose to use the refund toward raffle tickets or a carshow registration or t-shirts.

Limited Availability
The number of registrants that will be allowed to take advantage of the Early-Bird Discount will be limited to a total of fifty (50) registrants.

Registration
The web-based registration for the convention will not be set up in time for the Early Bird Registration period so all registrations will be handled primarily via e-mail. Please contact the organizers at registration@nissan-infiniti.us prior to January 31, 2011 at 11:59PM. Any e-mails received after this time will be referred to the online registration at early purchase prices. You will not be considered to be registered until you receive a confirming e-mail from the organizers. Confirming e-mails will be complete by 12:00PM on Feburary 1, 2011.

Payment
Payment must be received prior to 11:59PM on February 8, 2011. If payment is not received on time, your registration will be considered to be VOID and you will be directed to use the online registration and pay current rates for your registration. Early-bird registration will be via check or money order. Unfortunately we are not yet set up to accept Paypal or credit cards. Send payments to Ray Kawski, PO Box 1311, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301

Questions
If you have questions, please contact us at registration@nissan-infiniti.us.

As long as he had fun while doing it. My SE-R is nowhere near up to the challenge of track duty it needs so much work but I drive it fast for what it is and I have fun doing it.
