Agreed... Shawn, just get a NEW helmet. Not only will the 2010 have better safety (I'll be honest... I don't understand it, I just trust them so it could all be bs) but it will be legal for longer than a 2005 helmet.

I'll still follow up though for those who already have helmets that are maybe a bit older. It hasn't come up here yet but I know that although the rules say M rated helmets are good, last year NASA Northeast (may be different in other regions) were trying to steer people away from M rated helmets with the though that they would ban them either this year or next.

I'll get full clarification between now and say summer when people would want to be making purchases

Done deal on the NEW part. I'm rather partial to structural integrity of my skull.

Plenty of SA2010 choices between $239.00 and $500.00.

They also have a seriously-baller helmet that costs more than the blue-book on our vehicles.

HOWEVER, that was prior to SA2010 helmets being available. I'm sure he'd be in agreement that you should be looking at 2010 helmets since they're available now and will be "legal" for longer

Definitely, 100% agree.

That link has a ton of info regarding fit and important small things to look for.

Ooh if it's in NJ I'll go. Thank god it's not GA or that Wisconsin death trip.

I would find a place in your area and actually go try them on. Much like clothing, the fit varies between manufacturer and even between models. If you wear glasses make sure to get a wide eye port type. Unless you plan to drive an open wheel car at some point, stay away from the aero looking, thin slot eyeport type. They're horrible for closed cockpit type driving. I'm not a fan of open face either.
