20/20 Hindsight is awfully easy to come by. I did not see anything wrong with Keiran and Rays tactics, work, planning, or effort. The Organizers followed the same gameplan for the Savannah Convention and that was a successful blast.

Major props to Keiran and Ray, I place zero fault at their feet.

On the other hand, a lot of you have good input on how things might be planned in the future as well as explaining why there was such weak commitment and support. Assuming a group of folks steps up to the task and attempts a future Convention.

Interested in what the Deep crew decides to do.

Disappointed here as well.

My thoughts exactly. It has nothing to do with Keiran and Ray. In fact, these two are the trailblazers of SE-R conventions. Much of Savannah convention was modeled after past conventions they set up. They have been doing this for years!!
Thanks for putting in the effort in guys.

Thanks for the support from some of you. It was a busy weekend up at Pocono playing with exotic cars. I'll be getting back to those that replied back to my e-mails and all hopefully today. I do still have to fit work in somewhere but I'm trying to get through some more convention stuff today.

Those that do still come to the track, like I've said, we'll still have fun even if it's one or two of you

VIR isn't going to be cheap to run either guys an gals (just throwing that out there)

If you want a CHEAP track day rental, you will have to look at smaller venue tracks (much like Roebling Road).

I know in the midwest that Gingerman is one of the most affordable rental tracks FWIW and I'm sure there are others along the same lines throughout the country.

I know Gingerman is really cheap compared to many others because a few years ago 20 of us got together and paid $300 each to have the whole day (talk about a ton of track time with only 20 people!) ... so if you look at that statistic, if you can get 40 people at the track, it would only be around $150 per person for the day (now we also didn't have extras that day like ambulance or a tow truck just to keep costs down so keep that in mind as well)

I don't see why, other than switching from Friday to Saturday, much has changed. If the core people still want to get together, then make it informal and do it. Personally, if I get to toss the car around a little and have a beer afterwards with some SR20 geeks, I'll consider it a success. Granted, I don't have an 800 mile ride, but I think with what the DEEP folks are planning, this thing still can be a hoot even for people from far away....it just won't follow the traditional SERCA format....oh well, things change. Bottom line, it is what you make....just saying.

^ honestly, I wouldn't even consider going unless there was a track day involved but that might just be me because I'm a total track rat

It looks like Thursday will be the day we have a set schedule for the weekend we are planning this for. This will include Hotel information, Event information and schedule(with options for everyone), and a meet location for the final day. I hope that everyone who was planning on registering or has already registered for the convention decideds to take the trek 2-1/2 hours north of where the original convention site was going to be. We will do our best to accomodate everyone with answers to any questions they might have.

Again: Kieran and Ray I want to thank you for a valiant effort to keep the tradition alive, its too bad that it couldnt happen the way we all had hoped but I want you to know from us that it was greatly appreciated.
