That's actually a great rate. The Country Inn that we usually get a group rate through NASA for is $75/night. The extra $7/night is worth it with what you're getting at the Holiday Inn.

"Special" handshakes?

No, indoor pool, weight room (I think), nicer facility, better breakfast in the AM, more stuff in the area to walk to for dinner and drinking and such, larger parking lot and adjacent lots for trailers and such, etc, etc

That's just dirty.

Kieran,

With that being said, I can just call the hotel directly if need be and get a group rate set up? Tom's a good guy, but I don't know if you're willing to wait until the end of the week to hear back from him or not.

I don't think a couple of days is going to make a difference (except maybe for those few who think that booking a room at the hotel magically makes them an attendee at the convention) If you think Tom can get us some sort of deal? Or, if we just want to go with the $82, like I said, I think that's a pretty good rate.

I'm used to paying $175-$200 a night for rooms in cities and stuff so under $100 is a steal to me!

X 4 or whatever we are on.

The Convention I attended in Savannah was an absolute blast. If we get together a smaller but diehard group, so be it.

I'm looking forward to it any way it shakes out.

I'm sure Tom can work something out for us. It may not be a whole lot less, but we'll be taken care of for sure, once he gets something going. I'd like to head up there once I find out where he can get us a good rate. I'll PM details when I receive them to see if you can meet me up there at whatever establishment I can get lined up if that's okay with you. Otherwise I'll just head up to do a meet and greet with the staff and we'll go from there?

Make sure there is a bar within walking distance.

If there isn't alcohol within walking distance I'm not signing up. Actually crawling distance would be better.

I was hoping someone would bring a wheelbarrow so I wouldn't have to crawl.

Do we need DWPs?
