Valve cover gasket question
Would a 3 yr old gasket still be able to be used?

Not really... I would replace it once the VC is re moved.

I think he means it's been sitting on the shelf for 3 years? I would inspect it for tiny cracks and toss it if I found any. It probably looks like an old rubber band by now.

Man a VC gasket is inexpensive. I would just get a new one.

it's rubber. it can be reused if in good condition. when you remove it, check it for cracks/splits or other damage. if it's still soft/pliable, not hard/brittle you can reuse it. mine has been on/off several times in the past 2 1/2 yrs doing cam changes, cam and valve spring changes and cam gear swap outs. putting in a new one won't hurt, but it shouldn't be a show stopper unless it's damaged/unserviceable. if it ain't broke.......
